Hello Dr Anisha,

A fasting blood glucose level of 96 mg/dL during pregnancy is slightly elevated but not alarming. It may indicate that your body is experiencing some difficulty managing blood sugar levels, which can happen during pregnancy. However, since your other glucose tolerance test (GTT) results are normal, this may not necessarily point to gestational diabetes.

What You Can Do:

  1. Share the test results with your doctor to determine if any further testing or monitoring is needed.
  2. Focus on eating balanced meals with complex carbohydrates, proteins, and fibre to help regulate blood sugar levels.
  3. Gentle exercises like walking or prenatal yoga can also improve blood sugar control.

Your doctor may suggest repeating the test later in pregnancy or providing specific recommendations to ensure optimal maternal and fetal health.
