Kokilaben Hospital Mumbai, The Journey

The hospital project was initiated in 1999 by Dr Nitu Mandke, a visionary cardiovascular surgeon who trained under Dr Magdi Yacoub in England and Dr Kirklin at the University of Alabama, USA.

Dr Mandke received the Rajiv Gandhi Gold Medal of Merit (1992), Indira Gandhi Sadbhavana Award (1999), and Maharashtra Gaurav Award among other honours.

After his untimely passing in May 2003, the Mandke Foundation approached the Reliance Group, who developed the project into one of India's most modern quaternary care facilities.
