Devamatha Hospital represents the realization of a long-held aspiration for the people of Koothattukulam to access advanced medical care, particularly in emergency situations. Established to honor the Birth Centenary of the esteemed founder, Venerable Mar Thomas Kurialacherry, the hospital was solemnly inaugurated on February 14, 1975. The blessing ceremony was officiated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Sebastian Vayalil, the then Bishop of Palai, and was graced by his eminent successor, Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Pallickaparampil.

Initially a modest facility with 20 beds, 2 doctors, and 14 nurses, Devamatha Hospital has significantly expanded over the years. Today, it stands as a multi-specialty institution with 250 sanctioned beds and 100 operational beds, supported by a dedicated team that includes 25 senior doctors, 74 nurses, 30 nun sisters, 20 office staff members, and 80 paramedical personnel. The hospital’s commitment to keeping pace with medical advancements is reflected in its acquisition of cutting-edge medical equipment and techniques, ensuring optimal patient care.
