About ECHS 64 KB Smart Card

Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) came into effect on 1st April 2003. Under this scheme, the government issues an ECHS 64 KB smart card to eligible ex-servicemen in India.

  8. Fill in the details of “Prefix, Service Number, Suffix” of your service card.

  10. Create a new password and fill the same in the “Confirm Password” field.

    1. What is your mother’s name?
    2. What is your place of birth?

After ECHS registration, you need to complete the application form. The following documents need to be uploaded for the ECHS smart card application:

  5. Select the beneficiary whose polyclinic is to be changed and choose the new polyclinic.
  6. Submit request.

Yes, the ECHS card is valid all across India. With the ECHS card, you can choose any polyclinic in India, and no polyclinic can refuse it.

A visually different white smart card is a unique disability ID provided to war-disabled/battle-casualty veterans, their spouses, battle-casualty veterans, and dependents eligible under the Persons With Disability (PWD) Act, 2016.

The white card holders are given priority treatment at all ECHS polyclinics.

An ex-serviceperson is eligible for ECHS if he or she is:

  1. Retired from the service after receiving pension 
  2. Released on medical grounds and receives a disability pension
  3. A war-wounded soldier

It also covers the dependents of the ex-serviceperson, including the wife or husband, legitimate children, and wholly dependent parents.

To withdraw an online application, the primary beneficiary must: 
  1. Fill and send the document (Appendix A), fully signed, to the Director Regional Center.
  2. A Tab with the label "Withdraw Application" will be given to the Director Regional Center.
  3. The Director will complete the fields in the request form in the online module.
  4. The system will print out a confirmation as per Appendix "B" once it has approved the withdrawal of the application.
  5. The information will be delivered online or offline to the Primary Beneficiary by the Director Regional Center.
