What is VASER?

Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance (VASER) is an ideal way to get your body sculpted and contoured perfectly with minimal invasion and pain. It can help you get your desired body shape and tightened skin at specific body parts.

VASER helps get rid of extra fat deposits in the body so that the underneath muscle is revealed, giving you that dream body. This procedure uses ultrasound waves that break down the fat cells, making it easier for the surgeon to remove them from the body through a suction process.

You can get VASER done on any part of the body, but it is most commonly used for the following body parts:

  1. Chest
  2. Chin
  3. Hips
  4. Buttocks
  5. Thighs
  6. Arms
  7. Neck
  8. Upper back, and
  9. Waistline

What are the benefits of VASER?

VASER is a minimally invasive procedure that leaves very less scars and doesn't even require stitches. It isn’t traumatic as other surgical procedures since it requires minor incisions. There is less bruising and bleeding as well. Other benefits of VASER include:

  1. Recovery time is very less and so you can get back to your normal routine in just a couple of days.
  2.  Targets selective areas of your body where you want to see change.
  3. There is less or no damage to the nearby blood vessels and nerves as only the fat cells are targeted.
  4. VASER can help reduce cellulite (a harmless skin condition that forms lumpy flesh on certain body parts such as thighs, buttocks, stomach, etc) by stimulating blood circulation and smoothening the outer layer of the skin which further reduces the lumpiness.
  5.  Helps boost confidence in case of cellulite.
  6. There is less pain, swelling, and downtime after this procedure.
  7. Skin retraction enhances post-VASER Liposuction.
  8. There is less postoperative discomfort.
  9. Quick results after the surgery in just one week with precise sculpting.
  10. No blood clot formation or lumps under the skin.
  11. No other procedure is required further after VASER.

What Will Happen if Surgery is Delayed?

VASER Liposuction is not a surgery devised to cure any disease or health condition. It is a cosmetic surgery opted by people who want to look better and feel confident about their bodies. So, there is no right or wrong time for this procedure. There will be no consequences to the treatment being delayed.

How is VASER Done?

In this procedure, high-frequency ultrasonic waves break down the fat cells of a particular body part. VASER ultrasonic probes are injected into the fatty tissues and muscles of the body to break down the excessive fat cells so that the inner muscle can be revealed easily by the surgeon. The vibrations of the waves help in loosening the fat cells. Then the surgeon uses a small cannula to remove the extra fat cells by suction. Since the cells become loose, the surgeon can easily work on smoothening and contouring the desired body part into shape.

This also ensures that there is less bleeding and bruising during the process.

What to Expect Before VASER?

Before the procedure, the doctor will probably ask about your health condition, medical history, chronic diseases (if any), etc. Make sure you provide complete disclosure to your doctor before the treatment so that there are no complications later on. The surgeon may also mark the various parts of the body that you need the surgery on. You may also meet with an expert in anaesthesia to check the dosage you might require during the surgery.

Before going ahead with the surgery, remember that it might be costly, so make sure you have the financial ability to afford this treatment. You might also want to have someone by your side, a family member or a friend, take care of you for a few days after the surgery. You may also need to take some time off work.

What to Expect During VASER?

The procedure is generally performed by putting the patient under general anaesthesia. The treatment can also occur under conscious sedation, where the person is awake but cannot move. A tumescent fluid is prepared with saline solution and anaesthesia, and is injected into the specific parts of the body that have to undergo the procedure. Then ultrasound waves are passed through the skin to loosen the fat cells, and finally, the surgery is performed.

What is Recovery and Post Op Care after VASER?

The patient might remain unconscious for a few hours till the anaesthesia wears off after the surgery. They may need to rest for a couple of days so that the surgery fatigue can go away and they can get back to their normal routine. They may also need to take certain medications to make sure there are no side effects such as infections, blood loss, scarring, etc.

There might be some swelling and pain in and around the areas that were targeted. The results are not visible right away. It may take a few weeks for the results to finally show up. Your invasion sites may secrete some fluids that need to be sterilised and wiped regularly.

Recovery Process

Here are some of the things to remember during the recovery period:

  1. Avoid strenuous activity for at least 3 to 4 weeks.
  2. Don't put a lot of pressure on the targeted invasion sites.
  3. Wear a compression garment for 4 to 6 weeks to ease the swelling which may s side in  about 24 days.
  4. The doctor will provide you with antibiotics to ensure that the wounds heal in time.
  5. It may take around 15 to 20 days for the bruises to heal completely.

Follow-Up Care & Appointment

Results of the VASER treatment are permanent, but how your body looks after recovery depends on you and the lifestyle you choose to follow. If you resort to an unhealthy diet and lifestyle, you will gain back the lost fat in no time. Choose a healthy diet and workout regime so that you can maintain the weight you have lost and stay in shape.

It is advisable that you consult with your doctor immediately if you feel the following:

  1. Pain and swelling have not gone away even after a couple of weeks
  2. Excessive bleeding
  3. Any sign of discomfort, health issue
