Hello Subharao jI,

The following precautions are recommended post-cataract surgery:

  • Be gentle with your eye and avoid touching, rubbing, or pressing on the operated eye to prevent irritation or infection.

  • Take the prescribed eye drops and medications as directed by your doctor to prevent infection and reduce inflammation.

  • Do not let water enter the operated eye while washing your face, showering, or swimming for at least 2-4 weeks. This helps avoid infections.

  • Use an eye shield or sunglasses when sleeping and when outdoors to protect the eye from dust, wind, and sunlight.

  • Refrain from heavy lifting, bending over, or any physical activity that could increase pressure in the eye for at least one month.

  • Avoid driving, especially at night, until your doctor confirms that your vision has stabilized and that you are safe to drive.

  • Take frequent breaks if you need to use a computer or smartphone, as prolonged screen time can cause eye strain.

  • Attend all follow-up appointments with your ophthalmologist to monitor healing and detect any complications early.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any sudden vision loss, eye pain, redness, or discharge.
