He also completed his MCh Surgical Oncology from King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in 1985. He has also participated in research work and various workshops under the Medical Oncology department and published many papers.

Dr. Badwe has been conferred Padma Shri National Award by the President of India for the contribution to the field of Medicine in January, 2013. He has also been conferred the prestigious Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration, Academics and Management 2013 by the President of India on October 1, 2013.
