Dr. Naimish Mehta

Dr Naimish N Mehta is working as a Professor and Head of the Department of HPB and Liver Transplantation Surgery at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Jaipur. He has 27 years of experience in Liver and Hepatobiliary Surgery and worked as an expert surgeon in different cities in India.

He was previously associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre Hospital, Mumbai. 

He has contributed to handling numerous complex medical cases in several hospitals. He has performed over 1500 liver transplants to date.  The speciality interests of Dr Naimish are Liver Transplantation, intestinal transplantation, Dual Lobe Liver transplantation and Acute Liver failure.

Few highlights of his career:

1. Performed successful Liver Transplantation in the smallest weighing child of 4.5 kg, performing the first living donor intestinal transplantation in India
2. Dual Lobe Liver transplantation in which two donors donate liver to a single individual
3. Liver Transplantation in Acute Liver failure in pregnant women

Dr Naimish N Mehta did his MS in General Surgery from the University of Mumbai in 1999. He completed a Fellowship in Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant from St James University Hospital, Leeds, UK in 2008. He has also been awarded a Diploma in Liver Transplantation by the European Board of Surgery. He is an active member of the Delhi Medical Council (DMC).
