Dr. Jagdish Chander Suri

A specialist in Pulmonology with a rich experience of over 45 years is currently working in Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj. He is an advisor for developing guidelines for virus outbreaks such as H1N1 and COVID 19. He established the first critical care unit exclusively in North India in 1990 and went on to establish the first comprehensive Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in India at Safdarjang Hospital. He started the DM program in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at VMMC and Safdarjang Hospital, the second such centre in India to do so. Dr Suri has made many contributions towards Govt of India's National programs, where he started in 1994 as an expert in developing the National TB Control Program. He was actively involved as an expert in developing guidelines for COPD, CPAP, BiPAP and Oxygen concentrators for the beneficiaries of the Central Govt Health Schemes. He is also the National advisor for the pulmonary group at the Drug Controller General India for screening new proposals for drug trials submitted by various pharmaceutical companies. He has handled numerous complex medical cases and is known for attention to detail, accurate diagnosis and treating patients with empathy.
