Dr. Kumar Palaniappan is a well-known Hepato Pancreato Biliary and Liver Transplantation surgeon currently associated with Rela Hospital, Chennai. He has 25 years of experience in HPB and Liver Transplantation surgery and has worked as an expert in different cities of India. He underwent further training in HPB and Liver Transplant Surgery at Asan, Medical Center, Seoul. Iwate Medical University, Japan, trained him in Laparoscopic Liver Surgery. He was trained for Robotic HPB Surgery at Vattikutti Institute of Robotic Surgery.

He has also participated in research work, and various workshops under the surgery department, and published many papers. Doctor Palaniappan has also received many awards in his field like Best Poster Award in IHPBA Annual Conference, Ahmedabad in 2016, Best Paper Award in IASGO Conference, Tokyo in 2015 and Best Video Award by IHPBA in 2012, Mumbai on Auxillary Partial Liver Transplantation for Propionic Acidemia.
